How It's created

Let's take a quick look at what is involved in creating stunning fused-glass jewelry. Before sheets of glass are even cut, the color combinations and use of dichroic (glittery) and striker (changing color) glass must be considered. Colors only emerge after firing. Each piece starts as 3 separate squares of glass, carefully cut by hand, trimmed and stacked. Once fused (melted) together in a kiln following a precise heating and cooling schedule or "recipe" with temperatures reaching 1600F, the glass flows into the shapes you see.

The overall look and choice of accent beads and bands is made by the artist after the glass has cooled and the true colors emerge. Each piece is strung by hand and the L8Light Silver clasp is secured with a gentle blow from a weighted mallet.
